Pot Odds Chart

We have talked about positive and negative equity and pot odds in general, so here is a quick reference chart to help you :-

Likelihood of hitting your draw (in percentages):-

Number of Outs..........Draw from the flop.....Draw from the turn

4 (inside str).....................16.5%...........................8.7%
6 (2 overcards)..................24.1%..........................13%
8 (open ended str)............31.5%..........................17.4%
9 (std flush draw).............35%.............................19.6%
12 (flush and inside str).....45%............................26.1%
15 (open ended flush).......54.1%..........................32.6%

Likelihood of hitting your draw (in ratios) :-

Number of Outs..........Draw from the flop.....Draw from the turn

4 (inside str)....................5:1...............................10:1
6 (2 overcards).................3.2:1............................6.7:1
8 (open ended str).............2.2:1............................4.7:1
9 (std flush draw)..............1.9:1.............................4.1:1
12 (flush and inside str)......1.2:1............................2.8:1
15 (open ended flush)........0.85:1..........................2.1:1

Quick Guide to cost of calling :-

Player Bets................They%/Pot%/You%.........Cost of calling......Value/Cost

3xthe pot...................42.9%/14.3%/42.9%..........42.9%................1.33:1
2xthe pot....................40% /20% /40%................40%..................1.5:1
The Pot.......................33% /33% /33%...............33%...................2:1
Half the pot..................25% /50% /25%...............25%...................3:1
Third of the pot............20% /60% /20%...............20%....................4:1
Quarter of the pot.........17% /68% /17%...............17%...................5:1
One fifth pot..............14.3%/71.4% /14.3%..........12.5%................6:1
One sixth pot..............12.5%/75% /12.5%............12.5%................7:1

If you can remember these you will be much better off for it. Eg he has only bet half the pot at the turn. Which will be 25% to call. I have 12 outs (flush draw with an inside straight draw) (26.1% chance of hitting from turn). I therefore have the 'Pot Odds' to call. Eg2 If you have 2 overcards that you are trying to draw to (13% from the turn), you can only really justify a call if he bets one sixth the pot (12.5%). In ratio terms that is a 6.7:1 chance, needing the 7:1 value from a one sixth of pot bet. The value ratio should always be higher than the draw ratio for a call to be justified, or in percentage terms, the call cost% should be lower than the draw percentage.

These charts are always going to be a good guide for any bet from the turn, and any all-in from the flop. If a player still has chips left after his bet at the flop then you should also consider the implied odds. IE it is implied that you may get a bet at the turn as well, in which case you are only really paying to draw 1 card from the flop and not 2 cards. Drawing 1 card from the flop will be almost exactly the same odds as those listed under 'draw from the turn' if you are keen to factor in implied odds.
