Wording:
Dear PokerStars,
We the undersigned are writing to you regarding a matter of considerable concern. Recently you introduced a policy of removing the results of 180-seater SNGs from public display. We strongly believe this information should always be publically visible.
The online poker industry is often beset by scandal. Whilst regulators do exist such as Kahnawake, Malta, and the Isle of Man, it's quite clear (as history has demonstrated) it is impossible for these organisations to fully regulate every aspect of a poker site's operation. Therefore, a lot of the regulation effectively comes, to a large extent, from the actual players themselves, with freedom of information being a key and integral part of that.
The ability for self regulation by the players is only possible if the results of ALL tournaments are publically visible to all, and collatable by anyone outside of PokerStars wishing to do so. This information can then be used by players, if they so wish, to spot result anomalies or situations not conforming to any reasonable standard statistical deviations. The moment you start to cut off this information, you start to cut off this crucial off-site regulation, which is not a great path to start to tread from the perspective of openess.
Although it is our belief that PokerStars is a trusted organisation, what puts PokerStars above and beyond the possibilty of self regulation/examination by it's players? Do you not wish for all information regarding where the tournament money is going to be open and transparent? Emailing of results is not an appropriate alternative to spot statisical anomalies, as I am sure you understand, as you need volume for proper collation.
We fully understand your reasons for making this change. But your disagreements with certain sites such as OPR and Sharkscope, should not lead you down this path where collation and examination of results is no longer possible. The information should be there publically for anyone to collate and check, whenever they wish.
If the players are not supported in being able to check for anomalies via collation, what are we to think about integrity?
Thank you for your time in reading and digesting our case. We look forward to your reply.
