Froggy goes it alone
Gonna keep track of my mtt play here and try to avoid spewing off $1000s in cashgames or something. Just depo'd $1000 on stars and $1000 on ftp which is gonna be my roll for mtts. I can put more on if I need to but hopefully will get off to a good start and won't have to. Gonna play mtts and mtsngs from $22-$75 plus 12 180s and stuff
Decided maybe not to bother travelling to S.America , although I think it would be fun , I'm at an age now where I'm prob better off getting rich from my awesome online poker skillz  rather than just hanging out somewhere hot . Sigh , south american girls in bikinis tho :( Oh well , gonna take a few holidays instead :D I change my mind a lot anyway so we'll see what happens...

Frogman3 12-01-2010 04:58 PM

Won 400 on slot machines in the bookies today - lol I like to gamboool

And 1st tourney I'm playing for this blog thingy is the $82 6max hyper . Yep , broke my brm rules very 1st tourney  Then again Im 2/52 in it atm so could be a gamble that will pay off :p

Frogman3 12-02-2010 08:12 AM

Lol I have zero self control . Instead of MTTs , I decided to play $100nl 6max and 1/2 plo shortstack (20-50bbs table) . W/e managed to win $400 or so and bought $420 in Eppy's 1 night bas on 2+2 . Right now he's down to the last 3 in the 100r 6max on stars so wooohhoooo plus he's itm of the $109 30k on ftp . So should make some decent money from that gamble/investment :p P.S I would buy shares in ppl on here but noone's good and consistent apart from a few guys who hardly ever run bas's and a few who only play low stake stuff. We need more good players on surfers imo

Frogman3 12-02-2010 09:27 AM

6th in the $51 hyper for idk a few hundo but eppy won the 109r for $23k :) I'll make about $2k profit off that . Plus with the 400 I won in the bookies and the $400 I won at cash yesterday and the few hundred $ I won today , looking at like 2k profit in the last 24 hours... I used to work 2 months for that , so crazy

Well , all in all it's been a pretty solid month (see graph below) :hithead: :hithead: :hithead: :hithead:

Reached my depo limit for stars and rly cba to try and get it increased or put more money on just to lose it . So I have $247.30 on stars atm plus 3250 fpps . Sick br . Anyway , Im gonna follow a grindback formula as follows in 45mans. Just gonna play x games and then move up regardless of br. In fact , I will try not to even look at the br and if it won't let me reg then I'll know that I'm busto

250 x $3.25/$6.50 45s mix
250 x $6.50/12 45s
250 x $6.50/12/27 45s
250 x $12/27/38 45s and $12 180s

See where we're at after those (prob busto)

GL me !

Frogman3 12-31-2010 05:49 PM

5 hours later - 130 games played . Was 25-30 tabling mostly (obv a lie as Veidtmeister clearly knows that noone rly plays more than 8 at once) , apart from when i run out of $ early on and was down to 15 tables at one point . Made a good comeback tho. Had to look at sharkscope because tableninja was messed up with how many games I'd played . Looks like about 130 games and br is $485 . flipflipflipfliping boring tho

Frogman3 01-01-2011 04:49 PM

zzzzz just jumped up to the 6s/12s because 3s are dumb . Played 72 games and not one top 2 finish fml . So back down to $260 :hithead: Meh not moving down , I'd rather go busto than play more 3s . NM just gonna grab something to eat and play some more . Can't wait for my 1st $10 stellar reward of the year . Everything will be alright once I get that juicy bonus

Frogman3 01-01-2011 09:52 PM

God this is hard work.. up to $562 now tho plus 6k fpps . Sharkscope stats so far are Agent Bear 262 $1 $6 16% $353 . Played a couple of mtts or Id have $600

Can't wait until I can grind decent limits again :hithead: I miss the days of winning $10k in one day

Not sure what to play now idk if I can face more 45s . Maybe just risk it with some 12 180s and a few turbo mtts

Frogman3 01-02-2011 01:34 AM

Ballin :p Up to $1164 after shipping a 12 180 plus a few more FT's. Be at 10k in no time now :viking: Today was a sick grind tho played about 170 games and it took me the whole day basically apart from like a couple of half hour breaks . I rly dont kno how boku can play 500 games in one day  Maybe if I had a better computer and not just my laptop I could play more tables but still 500 a day is insane

Frogman3 01-03-2011 05:16 PM

Posting in here to keep my motivation up as it gets pretty boring grinding these. Been meh lately lost a little bit and didnt help when I got discon 3 times yesterday :hithead: discon in turbos is a disaster lol . Anyway I was running shit so I probably only lost what I would've lost regardless. Also tableninja somehow reg'd me in the $55r so I ended up playing that with one unit :hithead: and a $27 double shootout to the sunday $530 which I actually shipped :ciao:

Agent Bear 345 $2 $12 12% $665 - N/A PokerStars Year2011 S>=1 No Rebuy Expenses

BR is $951 anyway plus 10.6k fpps

So about to grind some $12-27 45s plus 12 180s . Sigh not rly in the mood for it but fk it

Frogman3 01-03-2011 10:06 PM

Over $1400 now so mixing in the 38 45s . $12-38 45s and 12 180s

Frogman3 01-05-2011 11:10 AM

OMG my luck is soooo awful atm . Rly rly bad . This has been a long fkn downswing now :( Not like rly stressed about it because I can grind pretty good but it's not much fun . Been badbeat on two $12 180s with 3 left . Lost a 4way pot in $54 ko with AA v random spazz hands . Never win my 70/30s hardly ever and lose way too many 80/20s and obv flips are like insta lose . Like if I have AQ v 88 flop will be 842 and just crush me instantly  Oh well w/e just keep grinding

BR is $685 with 17k fpps . Guess I'll have to play $6/12 45s for a bit until Im up to $900+

Slight upswing :p
Goal for 2011 btw is 100k profits which sounds crazy but I made $95k last year so its like another $60k on top of that . Seems kind of ridiculous to have $ goals in poker tho since you just win as much as you can obv . Could be $50k , could be $200k . Could be $0 or negative but lets hope not :ciao:

Going to GUKPT in London next week weeeeeeee . Hopefully I can make some money today and I won't feel bad about entering the 1500 main event  Theres lots of side events tho ranging from 115 - 550 entry so def going to play as many of them as I can . Got a nice hotel booked in Kensington also so will be a tourist in the day and poker pro at night :ciao: I've basically never played live poker tho so I'll prob make a fool of myself :hithead: Oh well , looking forward to a city break in London as it gets pretty quiet in cornwall over the winter unless you like walking on freezing empty beaches in the rain getting divebombed by seagulls. Going on the london eye lol like a true sightseer and obv will buy a union jack hat to wear about town

Below is graph for year so far - pretty insane but hit a $33k score in the warmup and obv been on a bit of a heater

Frogman3 03-27-2011 06:23 PM

London was fun just being there and crusing around on the tube and stuff. Live tourneys are slow as fk and a waste of time rly but played a lot of live cash and ended about 3k up which was a result :beerchug: Also played online one day while I was away and managed to get 5th in the $109 125k on sunday for $7k so all in all a profitable couple of weeks
Anyway now I am taking a break from poker for a while and going travelling again , maybe on a round-the-world trip ! I will take my laptop so I can hopefully earn some money on the way once I get round to it . Maybe will put up a few shortterm bas's for a few days - one week when I feel like it , wherever I am in the world , to avoid risking too much of my travel money . Got about $50k saved and ready to be spent :p so that will keep me going for some time or until I get bored / blow it all in Vegas
Going to Southern Italy first of all , visiting Naples , Pompeii and climbing Mount Vesuvius like a proper tourist. And chill out on some beaches on the Amalfi coast :D After that I have no specific plans yet but prob asia and pacific islands like Fiji and after that Australia/NZ and Hawaii and over to America , maybe south America and work my way up to North America , lose all my money in Vegas and fly home  should be an experience anyway . I know I could stay here and prob get rich but tbh I have nothing to spend money on anyway as I'm not rly interested in buying stuff like cars or gold watches or w/e . Just got to pay about $1000 a month on bills for house here while I'm away but maybe we can rent out the house to cover that . My friend will still be living here for a while but before he leaves to go live in Canada hopefully he can sort that out and rent it to some students or something. Who knows I might make loads of money while I'm abroad if I can find the time/motivation to grind some mtts occasionally and if I don't well fk it I'll be refreshed enough to put in some long hours online once I get back ;)
Should be leaving within the next week as long as I can get everything sorted . Just going to buy a one way ticket to Naples and take it from there which is prob the expensive way of doing things but if I got a round-the-world ticket you have a set route and I'm no good at planning like that - it's not how I roll

Well gl to all surfers , especially goldenboy Johnny4f . And Jamblance silvergirl (not rly gold status yet tho she's working on it ... :p )

Frogman3 05-16-2011 06:35 PM

Quick update I suppose... been to Italy and Greece was pretty cool . Spent a week windsurfing on the island of Rhodes which I haven't doen for a loooong time (used to be a windsurfing fanatic ) . Then bizarrely flew to Brussels because it was a cheap flight . Stayed in Belgium for 2 days and then left . Belgium is a dump but I managed to lose 700e in the casino there before I left - good times ! :hithead:

Now I'm in Spain (again) . So far my round the world trip hasn't got out of europe.... and next week I'm moving in to live with a spanish chick I know from last time I was here so idk how long I'll be staying :p <3 spanish girls tho

Didn't play any poker for ages and then started again a week or two ago but meh running bad so far . Feel like I'm playing rly good tho . A break can rly help you think fresh about the game

Well that's it . It's insanely hot here like 32c every day so I've got a good tan . Getting fat again tho form all the cokes I keep drinking , might have to switch to coke zero OBB styleee

Oh well that's it . GL to everyone in scoop and ftops . And extra gl to the horse of the year johnny4f :beerchug:

Frogman3 06-28-2011 11:40 AM

Still in spain in Seville . Sooooo hot every day like 35-40 degrees . Spanish chick is cool , idk there's soo many hot girls here tho that it's hard to say "oh yeh I def want to be with this girl" . I decided not to live with her though , idk too much rly I just wanna chill out. If only I was better at seducing women but I'm terrible at it sigh. Haha I change my mind a lot anyway plus I lack morals so it's not like it's going to last :ciao: . Been getting back into poker again which is good but I'm taking a new direction and going to give cashgames a proper go . I tried fullring but meh I just don't like it very much and I have a lot more experience with 6max so that's what I'm going to focus on. Plus my natural tendency is to play a lot of hands and be aggressive so that works out better anyway. Started off and was playing crazy aggressive and spewed a ton of money . Then I nitted right up and bled money too :p now I'm getting towards a balance in the middle and feel like I can start to use my tourney skills but adapted to the cash format
The reason is that I find the long hours of mtt sessions tough these days . I've been doing that for a long time and cashgames are obv completely flexible timewise. I will still play mtt sessions sometimes , particularly on sundays which I enjoy because of the big prizepools.

So far I'm losing but I feel like it won't take long for me to start winning regularly . Then it's move up stakes quickly and get lots of rb :p I'd happily be a small winner and rb grinder at 1/2 because that's good money already . If I can play 150k hands/month (about 120 hrs of 12 tabling ? ) and make 1bb/100 thats $3k plus 38500 vpps/month x 3.5 supernova = 135k fpps which is another T$2500 if I use the fpps to play sunday storm sats (i crush those:p )
Plus milestones etc and could be looking at $6k/month

Ha we'll see . Not exactly crushing the games yet but I'm moving up to 100nl today . If I drop $1k I'll move back down but I might as well get good at the sort of limit I want to play rather than getting good at 25nl and then having to readjust when I move up

Lolgraph to follow :hithead:

Shout out to DrJ in Vegas ! Sounds like you're having a great time but I'm still waiting on news of you going for the bracelet :viking: I'm still considering going out there , but I know myself and I'll prob just blow too much money on stupid gambling stuff which is why I'm hesitant. Plus I'm not exactly good at live poker either :(

And thanks to DQS for one of his comments made me decide to give cashgames a proper try . Well maybe i should thank him after I've actually stopped losing all my money but yeh sometimes one comment from one person can really kind of make you think "yeh why not?" . Just need to be realistic that it will take effort and I am prepared to lose money learning

Frogman3 06-28-2011 02:53 PM

sigh lost 5 buyins so far predictably . Didn't hit a single hand , pretty sick.

Running 300 under ev as well

W/e I dont give up that easily ;)

Frogman3 07-05-2011 05:02 PM

Well i played 15k hands in total and I can confidently say that cashgames are not for me... I just don't have the mentality for them . They're just so endless that I always try to create action and I do ok for a bit then I stack off a whole buyin or two (or three) in some triple barrel bluff type situation . Meh hopefully I learned something from them tho which will help me play better in tourneys :confused2:

$1500 lesson - it better be something worth knowing

Frogman3 07-22-2011 09:00 AM

Poker is so stagnant atm . I'm pretty bored of it because I'm not really getting anywhere . No big scores or anything and been on a bit of a downswing but nothing major . Just kind of treading water. Oh well... in other news , going kickboxing today for the first time :beerchug: Should be interesting - pretty sure everyone else will be Spanish and I'm a blonde English guy . Might be like in prison where you have to beat up the first guy who looks at you funny to send the message out that you're not the person to flipflipflipflip with  Spanish guys don't usually like me anyway I've noticed . Probably because they can sense that I'm only here to steal a few of their women :ciao:

Every single day is hot and sunny here it's insane . I haven't seen rain for 2 months . And around 3pm all the streets are empty because it's over 100F . I like the heat though so it's all good

Only thing I hate is mosquitos :hithead:

Frogman3 12-04-2011 05:21 PM

Ok updating this whilst bored and 2-tabling at end of nightmare session . Good news ! - In 6 figure profits for year ! (see graph) . Bad news :( - About 90% of that profit was in the first 2 months of this year and me being completely terrible with money meant that I managed to spend nearly all of it just assuming I'd win consistently every month . Last 9 months I've won about $15k total and the last 2 months have been a breakeven nightmare . Never ran this bad for this long in my life tbh . Not a huge downswing in terms of $ but rly sickeningly frustrating like I just can't ever win anymore . Idk how I keep playing because some days I'm 20 minutes into a session and I'm already so tilted and wanting to quit but obv can't because mtts are time committing . Then the next day I have hope that it will be better and it's the same bs over again :hithead: Just have to get through it I suppose . I know I play better once I'm getting better results . Atm I'm playing ok but the frustration is definitely getting to me and I'm sometimes failing to make folds I should because I just can't believe they've hit YET again against my AA or w/e :(
Playing staked for the last 9 weeks . Was 10k up on the stake after a couple of weeks and we cashed that out . Since then I've been up to $7k in makeup , then back to only $700 down and now currrently $3700 in mu grrrrr . I just wanna clear it and prob end the stake with a bit of profit plus my share of fpps / bonuses because I have over 100k fpps now also

Oh well that's a pretty boring blogpost but I'm kind of depressed with poker atm :( hoping it will get better before the end of the year

Frogman3 12-31-2011 04:25 PM

2012 is the year Froggy becomes a cashgame grinder ! Yes I've tried before and never succeeded but this time it's serious :p

I don't have the desire to play long mtt sessions anymore . I really struggle with the hours and the variance . Yes in the shortterm I can make a lot more money at mtts but if I put in the time and effort at cashgames I'm sure I can make the same and probably more at cashgames with much more time flexibility and hopefully less annoying variance . At least if I'm running bad allin at cashgames I can see my ev line going up which helps to deal with it.

Since xmas I have been putting some proper effort into winning steadily at nl 6max . I have a deuces cracked sub and I'm putting more effort into using HEM effectively . Also I'm being very careful not to start tilting because that has always been my main problem. If I'm feeling tilted I just take a break.

What I have learned adjusting from tourneys to cash

Preflop ranges are generally tighter . If I get 3bet I'm usually folding without a big hand or good odds to see a flop . Ofc sometimes I'll 4bet light (and by light I mean even a hand as strong as TT) depending on opponent which leads me to my next point

Adjust to opponent tendencies much more . In tourneys I generally just play a std game regardless of opponent at least until deep . In cash every hand is isolated and it's much more important to adjust how you play hands depending on opponent's playing style . KQ on Qxx flop is cbet and play cautiously on turn v some players (nitty regs) . The same hand is bet/bet/allin v a loose passive fish .

Taking notes and paying attention is more important . 6 or 7 tabling seems optimal so far for being able to really focus on who's doing what whilst maximising no. of hands played and hopefully $/hr . I guess I could learn to play a TAG game and 16-20 table but I'm more interested in learning to crush and moving up stakes rather than grinding out a living at low limits.

Respect position more . In tourneys I can get away with raising any playable hand from any position depending on stacksize and table dynamics . In cash it's generally just not profitable to be raising light from ep because noone is worried about their tourney life . Players are much more willing to see a flop and ofc I end up playing oop with a weak starting hand . I'm not quite sure what the difference is between tourneys and cash in this regard but maybe it's because it's really difficult to pressurise opponents in cashgames because there's way less fear factor :confused2: Anyway that's a leak I've plugged because I noticed on HEM that I was losing money from utg and obv that's because I was playing too many hands.

I think of cashgames as something like the 15/30 level in a 1500 chip mtt . You don't have to wait for AA or KK to get it allin pre but equally there's no need to 3bet suited connectors from the btn unless you have good reason/reads to do so. There's no rush to amass chips either although obv you don't want to miss +ev spots when they arise but generally folding when unsure is the better option and waiting for more profitable spots . Nitty folds cost less than spewy calls and bluffs

So far (since xmas) I'm up around $870 incl rb after 16k hands .That's a mix of 10nl-100nl . The majority of hands have been at 50nl which is where I feel most comfortable atm . So I'll post my 50nl graph which I'm quite pleased with . The sample is still way too small to get any real indication if I'm beating the games or not but that's all I got so far :ciao:

FYI The bottom redline is non-showdown winnings , the blue line is showdown winnings . Then the other redline is my expected winnings and the green line is actual winnings . So far at least everything is looking as it should :viking:

Frogman3 01-03-2012 06:33 PM

I give up, cant do it anymore just cant win whatever i do badbeats all day everyday, coolers suckouts non stop...confidence has taken a knock for the first time ever I quit im done no morepoker fck it obv cant beat it gonna go get a job @ mcdonalds bb - KevinThorn's blog entry

This is an example of a negative mindset

I've been working closely with my guru and mentor BlueRain who has really stressed the importance of a positive mindset in cashgames. He's come up with some helpful ideas and little tricks to stop me playing badly or tilting due to negative thoughts and feelings . These suggestions include:

Take a Break
Take a day off
Take another day off
Take a week off
Sit on a table and click "wait for big blind" then leave table before big blind reaches you
Don't play poker this month

All very helpful tips but in the end I had to fire him because for some reason I found my volume really seemed to drop massively around the time he was mentoring me :confused2: Could be coincidence but I had to let him go :( Always felt $100/hr for mental coaching was a little steep anyway especially when he spent most of the time writing poems about flowers and shit.

Still going good with the cashgames , mixing up 50nl and 100nl . l try not to worry about my profits and br and just play . Still too early to tell if I'm even a winning player for sure but I think I am just because of the ridiculous fishy things some players do . I don't generally do anything fishy although I'm sure I miss a lot of value in some spots and make mistakes regularly . Doesn't matter tho because I like to run approx 25% above ev ;)

Frogman3 01-10-2012 06:39 PM

Still working on my game . Getting crazy aggressive now but controlled (most of the time :hithead: ) and I'm stacking ppl a lot because they just can't fold to me with my image . Pretty swingy tho but if I can just avoid spewing by calling off too light then I think it's what I need to start crushing 100nl+ . Kind of practising at 50nl atm where I feel fine with dumping a buyin in experimentation

6max stats since xmas although I missed maybe 1k hands from yesterday when HEM wasn't working because of stars update . Nothing amazing yet but I'm happy enough with it because I feel like I'm getting better at 50nl and hopefully that will give me more confidence at higher limits . Oh yeh 200nl didn't go so well so prob wait a bit before I attempt that again

Frogman3 02-13-2012 01:35 PM

Just a moan post . I swear I run so fkn bad every single day :hithead: End of moan hope ironically I now ship something
