Default $1/$2 Cash game decision

Playing a cash game the other day and a very interesting situation occured.

6 Seater Table, I am in cut-off with ace diamonds 10 spades. I raise to $8, button and small blind fold, big blind calls. We both have roughly $200.

Flop ace of spades, Queen of hearts, 3 of spades. I bet $17 he calls.

Turn King of diamonds, I check he goes all in for $175.

Do you call?

tough one

Any reads on how this guy has been playing??

Think I would fold on the basis he could have caught 2 pair on the turn (or str). Would seem a bit of an overbet with a straight so maybe there is at least a little element of a draw here as well. KQ spades something like that.

Unfortunately I had just been in the game for a few hands and he had folded pre-flop to all. To be honest it took me the whole timer bar to make this decision as it did look like a two pair catch but the smelly overbet just didn't sit right, i mean, why go all in if he hit the nuts?

Anyway I took a view and did call assuming he thought my check on the turn meant weakness and he could push me off, say, JJ. He flipped J 9 off and the river was a blank.

Afterwards however I was really annoyed at myself for making the call. Sure I won the pot but in the long run it was a very bad decision which would cost me a lot of money in similar situations.

It's a brave call to make. esp with no reads.

a push here at low limits online would probably have to be a folded to, as some guys just cant contain there excitment when they hit their hand.

I guess at these higher stakes the push looks pretty suspect, but still you must have had a few whiskeys earlier in the evening to pull that call out the bag
