smallgreenstar Welcome to the Poker Staking Forum - PLEASE READ

Just a quick introduction to the Poker Staking Forum. Please read it so you understand the rules.

Staking Others :-

If you are looking to stake a player then start a new thread in the 'Stakes Available' forum with your requirements. See here for how to set up a stake : How to set up a stake

Example stakes are listed here:- Stake Examples.

Stakers are advised to start small in order to build up a level of trust with the people you stake. We advise you to do a minimum level of due dillegence so you are comfortable with the reliability of the person you are working with. If you would like advice on this front please feel free to contact me.

When the stake is complete, you, being the staker, should submit the result here in order to get your staker points. You can also submit it via your Stake HUB.

Being Staked :-

If you are looking to be staked then there is only one main method allowed.

1) Apply for a stake in a 'stake thread' that has been set up by another member in the 'Stakes Available' forum. Make sure you read through the thread to check the stake is still available first, and that you qualify to apply for it

Note :- There is a 2nd method, with the 'Buy-a-share' forum, but this is strictly for level 2 access members upwards (Surfers Poker Access Levels) and for Bling Title holders

Posts which break these guidelines will be deleted. Do not ask members for stakes anywhere else. If you do it will be considered begging. This includes via PM and via Instant messaging.

What happens after I have applied for a stake

If the staker decides to give you a stake, then follow their instructions regarding rails etc. At the end of the rail thread post the result so it is easy for the staker to see what the outcome was. It is a requirement to always create a rail thread even if that thread is only a single post stating the outcome.

The staker will then submit the result in order to get their staker points. If you (the horse) made a profit in the stake then you need to ship 5% of the profit to SPStaking on Pokerstars.

Example: You get staked $5.50 and you win $6.24. The profit on that is 74c. You ship the staker 5.50+(0.74/2) (ie Stakeback + 50% of the profit). You ship SPStaking (0.74/2)x0.05 = 2 cents. In summary Staker=$5.87, SPStaking=0.02, You Keep=0.35.
More Examples
Split Calculator

If you are not sure of the amount you need to ship, then use the Split Calculator. Once the staker submits the result it will also appear in your profile and in your Stake HUB. On both of those you will see the 'Amount Due' listed on the pending item.

Bankroll resets are also considered commission points. For example: you run a stake from $200 to $500, and then you split $200 of the profit, and continue from $300. This will be subject to a commission of (200/2)*0.05 = $5.

If no resets at all are conducted for a 3 month period, and the stake is still running and in profit, this will be considered a commission point.

Displaying your Stats and Creating Interest in yourself as a horse :-

Start a new thread in 'The Stables' forum. Make sure you read the stable rules at the top of that forum first.

Post any stats in your stables thread, and then link to that thread from your signature.

After you have had a few stakes and have had the staking stats added to your profile, you may want to link to your profile from your signature, to make it easy for stakers to check your record.

Other links from your signature could also potentially include links to a Hall-of-fame stake, or to a particularly good BAS result, etc

Staking Titles :-

Any Surfers Poker members with above 100 posts can request a 'verified' tag to their user ID. Additional checks will be done by Surfers Poker before this tag is awarded. Request Verified tag or staking title

Also see the private staking forum, for other staking titles you can request (eg Gold Staker, Supernova Horse etc)

Stakee and Staker Record :-

Any horse who has had their stake result authorised will get their TPS points and other stake stats updated on their profile page and in their Stake HUB, and in the header of all their posts. You can also see the Top 50 Horses here. For historical records of the tables see here: Stake Table Archive.

Any staker who has submitted a stake result will get their staker points updated on their profile page, and in their Stake HUB and in the header of all their posts. If you have submitted and they havent been added as confirmed points yet you will see them listed as pending in your profile. You can also see the Top 50 Stakers here. For historical records of the tables see here: Stake Table Archive.

Staking Abuse :-

Staking abuse is very simple to report. It is completely on the side of the staker. The staker simple has to Report Abuse here. If your report is reasonable, the horse will get locked out of staking. The onus is on the horse to prove otherwise, rather than the staker to prove the abuse.

See here for a more details of handling of Staking Abuse

Any follow-ups enquiries or information on staking abuse should be PM'ed to Jenpoker

This is a very interesting concept. I have seen this done at other forums but on a much smaller scale. I will be inquirying on this in the future once I have played a few games with this forum.
